Anapanasati, also known as mindfulness of breathing, is the cornerstone for the development of concentration. Breath connects us with the here-and-now and helps us discover the nature of reality itself by encouraging us to notice what is actually happening each moment in a direct and open way. The Anapanasati Suttadescribes 16 steps to full awareness of breathing, according to the Buddha. The teachings contained in this Sutta can be transformative and provide the sincere practitioner a systematic approach to deep states of concentration and insight.
This day-long retreat provides an overview of mindfulness of breathing and is appropriate for both new and experienced meditators. Through guided meditations and group discussion we will study and practice our way through each of the 16 steps outlined in the Anapanasati Sutta. Everyone is welcome.
