Description
Mettā is love, or friendliness. Many of us first learn it as a set of phrases we repeat. In the Naturally Arising Practice Method, mettā is cultivated all along: in the Arriving Sequence, in practicing practice As Best We Are Able, in the unhurried way we let the practice unfold.
Mettā is often associated with a softening of the heart. Through practice we discover that this softening brings strength with it, the way gold grows stronger as it softens. A heart trained in this way stays open without becoming fragile. It can stay present with difficulty and still hold warmth.
During the daylong we will explore the ways mettā infuses the Naturally Arising Practice Method, and how it can become a source of empowerment in your practice, in your character, and in your life.
The daylong will consist of sitting and walking meditation, short dharma talks, and time for questions and responses.
Both longtime practitioners and those newer to the Naturally Arising Practice Method are warmly welcome.
